Lucien le Moine

The barrel of Le Moine 2007 Grands-Echezeaux smells pungently of dried herbs, white pepper, and smoky black tea, along with plum and red currant that go on to inform a vibrantly fresh-fruited palate, finishing with tremendous energy and grip, and with a suffusion of chalk added to the smoky and herbal themes announced on the nose. There is a lot of very fine-grained tannin here but the overall weave of this wine is seamless and I feel sure that it harbors serious 15 or more year cellar potential.
